Joss Whedon

Clark Gregg's glorious return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Vision is, as you're well aware by now, one of our favorite tinfoil theories here at Splash Page. Even though some have downplayed the likelihood of that outcome, we're optimists over here.

We're especially optimistic when the director of the next "Avengers" film, Joss Whedon, gets asked a question about Coulson-Vision, and doesn't respond with an outright no. Speaking with Huffington Post, Whedon artfully sidestepped the question of whether or not Gregg could return as the Vision, saying instead that he has "some power" to make ballsy creative decisions happen.

"I have some power, you know? I think there's a level of trust," said Whedon. "You know, Kevin Feige and I have always had mutual respect, and on the first movie he was very supportive. But there were definitely things where they were like, 'Hmm, we don't see that.' And I think now Kevin's in a place where it would be more like, 'We don't see it, but we think you do.'"

"And that doesn't mean they're just going to roll over and I'm going to say, 'Oh, it's Great Lakes Avengers and we're going to get Squirrel Girl and you're gonna love it,'" he added. "You know, they need to believe. But all I want to do is make the movie that they want. And so it's been great."

Well, Great Lakes Avengers and Squirrel Girl aren't Vision, a much likelier character to appear in the Marvel movies, whether or not he's played by Gregg. We'll stay hopeful for now.
